Brand strategy / visual identity

Corporate identity creation that makes the business recognisable and consistent.

We design complete brand systems—from strategic direction and logo to colour, typography, applications and guidelines—so every interaction communicates the same business value.

  • Brand direction
  • Logo system
  • Guidelines
  • Applications

What is corporate identity?

It is not a logo file. It is a system of decisions designed to be repeated correctly.

A complete identity helps internal teams, partners and communication channels make consistent choices. It defines what remains stable, what may adapt and how the brand keeps its character from a business card to a website or campaign.

Identity deliverables

The elements that turn an idea into a usable brand system.

Not every business needs the same package. Applications are selected around how the company actually sells, communicates and serves its customers.

01

Strategic direction

We clarify audience, competitors, market position, personality and core promise before visual exploration begins.

02

Logo & variants

Primary mark, alternative lockups, monochrome use, responsive variants and clear-space rules.

03

Colour & typography

A practical palette and type hierarchy designed for screens, print and everyday content production.

04

Graphic language

Shapes, patterns, iconography, photography direction and recognisable elements that do not rely on the logo alone.

05

Identity applications

Business cards, documents, presentations, social templates, packaging, signage or other agreed real-world touchpoints.

06

Guidelines & files

Usage guidance, organised source/export files and clear specifications so the identity remains usable after handoff.

Logo or full identity?

The right scope depends on the decisions the design needs to solve.

We separate a focused logo project from a complete identity system before work begins, keeping deliverables, timing and budget clear.

FOCUSED

Logo design

Appropriate when the business needs a strong core identifier and defined variants without developing a complete application system.

  • Primary logo and core variants
  • Colour and essential usage rules
  • Agreed export and source formats
SYSTEM

Corporate identity

Appropriate when multiple people and channels need to present one business through a consistent, recognisable visual language.

  • Strategy and creative direction
  • Logo, type, colour and graphic language
  • Guidelines and selected applications

From element to rule

Consistency does not mean every output should look identical.

A useful identity system allows variety without losing recognition. It defines relationships, hierarchy and boundaries—not one layout copied everywhere.

  • Clear hierarchy for headlines, information and actions
  • Colour combinations with tested contrast and usability
  • Responsive rules for icons, avatars and large surfaces
  • Examples of correct and incorrect application

Design process

From business context to everyday brand use.

Each stage has a clear decision and deliverable. Feedback comes from the right decision makers instead of becoming an endless vote on personal taste.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We discuss business goals, audience, competition, existing equity, constraints and real points of application.

  2. 02

    Creative direction

We establish a clear design territory and explain the decisions before expanding it into a complete system.

  3. 03

    Identity system

We design the core elements, test their relationships and apply them to representative real-world uses.

  4. 04

    Handoff & use

We deliver approved assets, guidelines and applications with an organised structure and agreed usage rights.

A handoff people can use

The project is complete when the team knows what it owns, where it lives and how to use it.

We organise assets, versions and rules so the brand does not rely on one designer’s memory. Deliverables, licences and usage rights are agreed in writing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about corporate identity creation.

The scope should be clear before design begins: objective, applications, deliverables, feedback process and usage rights.

What is the difference between a logo and a corporate identity?

A logo is a core identifier. A corporate identity is the wider system that defines how logo, colour, typography, graphics, imagery, tone and applications work together so the business remains consistent.

Can I commission only a logo?

Yes, when that is the real scope. We first clarify whether you need a focused logo project or a complete identity, so you do not pay for deliverables the business will not use.

What can a corporate identity project include?

The agreed scope may include strategic direction, a logo family, colour palette, typography, graphic and photography language, brand guidelines and selected digital or print applications. The exact deliverables are listed in the proposal.

Do you rebrand existing businesses?

Yes. We review what has useful recognition, what should remain and where inconsistency is creating problems. A rebrand can evolve an existing system rather than discard everything familiar.

How many logo concepts do you present?

We do not equate quality with an arbitrary large number of options. The proposal defines the creative process, directions and refinement rounds. We present work that can be explained, evaluated and developed responsibly.

Will the identity work on websites and social media?

Yes. The system is tested for large and small screens, social content and the applications agreed in the scope. Ready-made templates or UI assets are included explicitly where needed.

Do you provide editable source files?

We provide the agreed source and export formats with organised naming. The final asset list, fonts, third-party licences and usage rights are documented before the project starts.

Do you handle printing, packaging or signage?

We can design those applications and prepare production-ready artwork. Physical production, proofs and supplier coordination are scoped separately where required.

How long does a corporate identity project take?

Timing depends on scope, applications, decision-maker availability and feedback rounds. After discovery we provide stages, deliverables and a realistic schedule rather than a generic promise.

Can Firstidea apply the identity to our website?

Yes. Because we also design and build websites, eCommerce and digital products, we can translate the identity into a working design system, UI, content and digital touchpoints without losing its original logic.
